About Scott:

Scott Young was born in Oak Park, Illinois, the oldest of five children. His father worked as a business machine repairman/bus driver and his mother was a secretary. Scott’s father was transferred to Macon, Georgia when he was ten years old. Scott attended the University of Georgia, majoring in film. After his junior year, he enlisted in the U.S. Army and served in Washington D.C., achieving the rank of Specialist 4. He was awarded the U.S. Army Commendation Medal for his service and returned to Georgia to complete his degree.

He attended the Graduate School of Cinema at the University of Southern California (USC) and study screenwriting. His original career goal was to make a living as a writer. Scott shifted his attention towards a doctorate degree in Management at Georgia State University. After completion of his dissertation, he began his career as a management professor at the University of Utah in Salt Lake City. At Utah, he served as Chairman and Associate Dean. In 2003, Scott moved to Chicago, where Scott took the role of Chairman of the Management department at DePaul University.

Scott has authored three management books: Managing Global Operations, The Essentials of Operations Management, and Sustainability Essentials for Business. In addition to his writing interests, Scott has a passion for distance running. He started running in 1981 and has since run more than 300 races, including 34 marathons. He as run in every state except Alaska (as of this writing).

He is married to Dr. Luciana Young and has two daughters, Gianna (age 6) and Gabriella (age 4) plus two step-sons from a previous marriage, Reggie and Galen.
